Day 1: Trek to Triund Top (9 Km)

Morning: Mcleodganj to Bhagsunag

  • Mcleodganj is a thriving town with Tibetan monasteries, cafes, and bazaars, marking the beginning of the trip.
  • The initial ascent is to Bhagsunag, a tiny town that lies a few kilometres away from Mcleodganj.
  • The picturesque Bhagsunag waterfall and the ancient Bhagsunag Temple are the major sightseeing points.
  • This is like a warm-up section of the trek, allowing trekkers to acclimatize at the higher altitude and prepare themselves for the more challenging ascent to come.

Midday: Bhagsunag to Trek’s Midpoint

  • This part of the trek rises sharply through dense forest from Bhagsunag on rocky terrain and winding paths.
  • There are dirt and rocky trails on the path.
  • From the relatively populous area of Bhagsunag, the mood shifts to one that is more secluded and untamed.
  • The path often follows the path of a small brook and this can make it a bit slippery.

Afternoon: Midpoint to Triund Top

  • The arduous ascend to Triund Top is the final portion of the trip.
  • Trekkers must navigate boulder fields and steep slopes as the landscape becomes more rugged and steeper.
  • As the altitude increases, the scenery becomes more spectacular and offers glimpses of nearby mountains and valleys. The scenery is spectacular once you’ve reached the top.

Evening: Triund Top

  • Trekkers are treated to stunning panoramic views of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar peaks upon arriving at Triund Top.
  • Trekkers have the chance to sleep amidst stunning nature at the campsite of Triund, offering basic camping facilities.
  • The scenes of sunrise and sunset from Triund are particularly stunning, lighting up the mountain with golden colours.
  • The night sky is also very clear and offers excellent star gazing.

Day 2: Triund to Mcleodganj Trek (9 Km)

Morning: Scenic views of the Descent to Triund

  • Trekkers begin their descent down to Mcleodganj after enjoying the morning scenery from Triund.
  • Trekkers are treated to the beauty of the mountains and valleys from a novel perspective on the landscape due to the descent.
  • While it is hard on the knees, the downhill is typically easier than climbing.

Midday: Climb to Bhagsunag

  • Using the same path as the climb, the descent involves following rocky and wooded terrain.
  • There are some slippery sections of the trail, so you’ll have to watch your step.
  • The village of Bhagsunag is crossed by the descent again.
  • Return to Mcleodganj from Bhagsunag.
  • Slow walking back to Mcleodganj is the final descent.
  • The trail provides glimpses of Mcleodganj’s vibrant atmosphere as it passes through the outskirts of the town.
  • Trekkers can relax and enjoy the town’s attractions after the trek ends in Mcleodganj.
