This tour guide delves into the ins and outs of trekking in this interesting region from its appeal to logistical aspects like packing and reaching the valley.

Tour Itinerary

Reach the Solang Valley early morning. From Manali, you can take a ride on a local bus or taxi to Solang Valley. Stay at the campground or guesthouse you have booked in advance. Relax for a while and enjoy the first glimpses. Go for a relaxed acclimation walk in the Solang Valley after lunch.

Go for a leisure walk in the Solang Valley after lunch. Relax your legs and get them moving. You can walk to the base of the Solang Valley ropeway or do a short hike up a nearby gentle slope. Return to your lodge and enjoy dinner. Get a good night’s sleep in preparation for the journey.

Start your hike after breakfast. Depending on how difficult and long the route you choose, a popular trek route from Solang is either to the charming village of Kothi or to Dhundi.

Passage along the Beas River and alongside pine forests is a regular characteristic of the Kothi route. Kothi is popular for having dramatic views of the surrounding peaks and the gorge. The trail to Dhundi follows upstream along the Beas River to the beginning of the Beas Kund Trek. Both routes consist of relatively well-marked trails and panoramic views. Depending on location and speed, the walk would last 4 to 6 hours. Reach your destination in the afternoon. If you are camping, pitch camp; remain at a guesthouse. Have dinner at your guesthouse or around a campfire at camps.

Leave for a return trip to Solang Valley after breakfast. Trek back the same way or even take a slightly different route. You would have to walk back on the Beas River if you had walked in the direction of Dhundi. The return journey provides an opportunity to see the landscape from a different perspective. The downhill sections are typically easier, but caution is still required in walking. It may take 3 to 5 hours to trek back to Solang Valley.
