Day 1: McLeod Ganj / Dharamkot to Triund
Arrive at Dharamkot or McLeod Ganj. Enjoy the last-minute preparations and have breakfast. The Gallu Devi Temple is a short drive away from Dharamkot, where the trek usually starts. Depending on the exact point of departure and route taken, the walk from Gallu Devi Temple to Triund is about 7 to 9 kms and takes around 4 to 5 hours. The initial part is a well-marked trail through dense oak and rhododendron forests. There are a few tea stalls along the way where you can rest and re-energise.
Reach the Triund Ridge to check into the guesthouse that you have pre-booked. Relax during the day while enjoying the spectacular views of the Dhauladhar range. Enjoy the glorious view of sunset over the valley. Relish a delicious dinner at camp or any of the rudimentary food stalls. Stay overnight comfortably.
Day 2: Triund to Lake Glacier & Descend to McLeod Ganj
Wake up early to see the stunning sunrise on the Dhauladhar Alps. Return to the Gallu Devi Temple, Dharamkot, or McLeodganj. While the descent is faster, it takes around 2 to 3 hours, especially on rough or slippery spots. After a trip to Laka Glacier, return to Triund. Back to the destination point and resume your travel after lunch from McLeod Ganj or Dharamshala.
How to reach Kasol?
Enjoy a drive to a nearby transport center and then drive into the scenic Parvati Valley to reach Kasol. By air from Delhi and Chandigarh, the nearest airport is Bhuntar at about 31 kms. Local buses and taxis from Bhuntar are available. Ambala and Chandigarh are the nearest major railheads. You may take a bus or a taxi from these railway stations to Bhuntar. Most people take the easiest route by either taking an overnight bus directly from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar or Kullu.
