Day 2: Kheerganga – Tund Bhuj
Today begin your journey towards Tund Bhuj after breakfast, and you will move through dense forests. This gives way to the vast stretch of the grasslands before the landscape changes to snow peaks after a while. It may take approximately 5 to 6 hours. Reach the captivating land of Tund Bhuj, a mystical place, ideally during late evenings.
Stay: In Tund Bhuj
Day 3: Tund Bhuj – Thakur Kuwan
Post a wholesome meal, step out via steep terrain and alpine meadows in the direction of Thakur Kuan. From there, you’ll walk through meadows, lakes, and waterfalls, which takes around 6 hours to do. Hike through the mountainous terrain and alpine meadows. Enjoy the gurgling sound of streams and admire the stunning views of the mountains.
Stay: In the Camp
Day 4: Thakur Kuwan – Ody Thach
The next day wake up and travel to Ody Thach through diverse landscapes from rocky terrains and lush greenery. The stretch is exciting as you cross the single rock, Pandu Pul. Encounter the scenic Pandu Pul, a natural rock bridge over the Parvati River. The trek is around 6 kms and setup your camp for a relaxing night stay.
Stay: In Ody Thach
Day 5: Ody Thach – Mantalai
The day begins with a trek from Ody Thach to Mantalai. This stretch includes walking through alpine meadows and rocky terrains. Witness the beauty of Ody Thach, an altitude meadow. Walk alongside the Parvati River, noting its glacial source and surrounding mountain ranges. Observe the chance in vegetation as you hike up through the lush meadows to high-altitude drier areas. Reach Mantalai lake, a holy and scenic glacial lake popular for its pristine water and awe-inspiring reflections of the surroundings.
Stay: In Mantalai
Day 6: Mantalai – Pin Parvati Pass Basecamp
Today, enjoy a hike from Mantalai to Pin Parvati Pass Basecamp, which is tough on this day. The scenery becomes increasingly rocky and glacial. Hike on glacial moraines over the snowfields for views. As you approach the pass, witness how the scenery shifts dramatically with glaciers and big peaks dominating. Feel the atmosphere at high altitude, where the climate is tough and the air is thin. Reach the high-altitude campsite of the Pin Parvati basecamp, serving as a staging ground for crossing the pass. Enjoy the scenery of the surrounding mountains and the pass.
Stay: In Pin Parvati Pass
Day 7: Pin Parvati Pass Basecamp
Acclimatization and pass crossing preparation usually take place on this day. There may be an effort to travel the pass, depending on the weather. Try exploring the treacherous high-altitude Pin Parvati Pass if the weather allows. From the pass, take in expansive views of the Spiti and Kullu Valleys. See the snow-capped peaks and glacier landscapes that cover the pass. Discover the area, get used to the local lifestyle and be ready for the next day if the pass crossing is not feasible.
Stay: In Pin Parvati Basecamp
Day 8: BeduTanch – Tiya
The trek will descend from the higher elevations towards Tiya once the pass is crossed or after the restful day. A place close to the decent is probably the source of the name BeduTanch as there’s a local name for that. As you descend into the Spiti Valley, the scenery will significantly alter. Witness the arid, desert-like landscapes of Spiti change from glacier terrain. Enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding canyons and the Spiti valley.
Stay: In Tiya
Day 9: Tiya – Mudh
Trekking from Tiya to the Spiti Pin Valley Settlement of Mudh. Experience the unique culture and landscapes of Spiti Valley. Take in the Spiti people’s traditional building and way of life. Relish the scenery of the surrounding mountains and the Pin River. Discover the town of the Mudh, which is the gateway to Pin Valley National Park.
