Day 1: Dalhousie Arrival & Transfer

As Pathankot Railway Station or Pathankot Airport is the nearest major hub to Dalhousie, the trip typically begins with arriving at a major transportation point. Travellers will be met upon arrival and taken to Dalhousie. The ride itself is scenic, offering the first glimpse of the pink-covered hills and fresh mountain air as it increasingly rises into the Dhauladhar range. Travellers will take up residence in the pre-booked hotel when they reach Dalhousie.

Day 2: Dalhousie and Khajjiar Tour

Discovering Dalhousie’s local attractions and its most famous surrounding outings, Khajjiar occupies day two. Dalhousie touring typically involves visiting –

  • St. Francis Church is a peaceful, beautiful old stone church with intricate glasswork.

Day 4: Dharamshala to Amritsar Transfer

The next day sees a stark change from the mountains of Himachal Pradesh to the plains of Punjab and the vibrant city of Amritsar. Taking anywhere from 4 to 5 hours, the drive from Dharamshala to Amritsar covers diverse landscapes. Travellers will report to their accommodation when they reach Amritsar.

The excursion to the Wagah Border, the highlight of the day in the late afternoon. The Beating Retreat ceremony occurs daily before dusk falls. The Indian Border Security Force BSF and the Pakistan Rangers’ parades, military exercises and flag-lowering create huge crowds and an intense atmosphere, making for a thrilling and patriotic sight.

Day 5: Amritsar City Tour

The 5th day is spent exploring the spiritual and historical heart of Amritsar.

Amritsar’s most significant landmark is the Golden Temple. Glinting in gold, the stunning Sikh gurudwara is a sanctuary of calm and beauty. One may spend hours observing pilgrims' devotion, listening to soothing kirtan and assisting at the langar.
