It is a 9 nights 10 days tour itinerary for your holiday planning and outlines an average road tour starting from Kolkata. The tour begins with a pickup from Kolkata to Uttarakhand, usually beginning in Haridwar or Rishikesh, and it explores the four temples prior to returning.

Kolkata to Haridwar Transfer via Delhi

Chardham yatra begins at Haridwar or Rishikesh and the trip from Kolkata to these places involves a long transfer, commonly through Delhi. The most affordable method to reach Delhi from Kolkata is normally by train, taking around 17 to 25 hours. Haridwar is around 220 miles from Delhi and is accessible by bus or train in 5 – 7 hours. Be ready for the next mountain drive, some of the tour packages have an overnight train journey to Delhi and drive to Rishikesh or Haridwar the next day.

Day 1: Haridwar to Barkot

The tour to Barkot is the formal beginning of the mountain trail, beginning early from Haridwar or Rishikesh. It is the starting point of this trip and the first step of the Chardham Tour Itinerary. Enjoy a smooth drive through scenic landscape views of the Himalayan foothills and maybe a halt at the famous Kempty Falls near Mussoorie. Stay relaxed overnight in Barkot.

Day 2: Yamunotri Day Trip

Yamunotri is the first among the four dhams of India’s spiritual hubs. The trek starts from Janki Chatti, accessible by road from Barkot. Travellers may reach Yamunotri Temple, devoted to Goddess Yamuna, by trekking 5-6 km to the top from Janki Chatti. Before trekking back to Janki Chatti and resting overnight at Barkot.

Day 3: Uttarkashi Transfer

Post breakfast, you will leave from the Barkot hotel and drive to Uttarkashi, the point of the origin for the Gangotri Yatra. The drive is not so long. Check into your lodging when you arrive at Uttarkashi. Spend the night at the adjacent Ujali Ashram and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple at Uttarkashi.

Day 4: Gangotri Day Trip

Today, you’ll take a drive from Uttarkashi to Gangotri, the second dhams and the mythological origin of the Ganga River. The route to Gangotri is long and scenic. Travellers may have time for prayer and rituals after darshan at the Gangotri Temple. Return by car to Uttarkashi, and spend the night comfortably.

Day 5: Guptkashi Transfer

The drive from the Gangotri route to the Kedarnath track is long today. Guptkashi is the base town of the Kedarnath pilgrimage site, driven to by car from Uttarkashi. Devprayag and Rudraprayag, two sacred confluences of the Alaknanda River with the Bhagirathi and Mandakini Rivers, respectively, are crossed en route. After reaching Guptkashi, check into the hotel to stay relaxed.

Day 6: Kedarnath Day Trip

Travel from Guptkashi to Gaurikund through Sonprayag. The most physically demanding day of the yatra begins early as you make the approximately 30 kms tour from Guptkashi to Sonprayag.

Gaurikund is the starting point from where you will begin the trek, around 5 km from Sonprayag and accessible by local jeep shuttle. Begin the 16- to 18-km trek to the Kedarnath Temple from Gaurikund. A helicopter service from any one of the helipads in the nearby vicinity. Stay overnight near Kedarnath Dham and watch prayers after reaching the temple.

Day 7: Badrinath Transfer

The day begins with the return journey from Guptkashi to Badrinath, the downhill walk from Kedarnath. Travel over several mountain valleys and rivers on the long drive. On arrival at Badrinath, check into your stay. Before proceeding to the evening Aarti at the Badrinath Temple, devoted to Lord Vishnu, pilgrims have a holy bath in the Tapt Kund, a hot spring.

Day 8: Rudraprayag Transfer via Joshimath

Get a transfer through Joshimath. Begin the return trek, followed by morning prayers and darshan at Badrinath and a visit to nearby Mana Village, the last Indian village. The path proceeds from Badrinath to Rudraprayag, an important intersection. Joshimath is an interesting stop along the way with the Narsingh Temple. Spend the night at your Rudraprayag hotel.

Day 9: Rudraprayag to Rishikesh Transfer

The last phase of the mountain trek is driving from Rudraprayag to the town of Rishikesh. There’s a progressive transformation in the terrain along the scenic trip. On reaching Rishikesh, check into a hotel and roam around the city during the evening. The sacred city is renowned for yoga centers, Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat and spiritual atmosphere.

Day 10: Kolkata Departure

Depart for your hotel in Rishikesh according to the travel arrangements further on. The Chardham yatra’s final day involves returning drive to Delhi from Haridwar or Rishikesh by train or road and then moving ahead to Kolkata by train or flight.
