Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar
Devotees arrive at Srinagar’s Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport. Soon after you arrive, you will be taken to your respective lodgings in Srinagar, the Summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The day is very important for preparation and acclimatization. The body has time to acclimatize before the intense climb the next day. Day 2: Travel to Baltal/Panchtarni
It is better to have an early morning start. The road trip from Srinagar to Baltal helipad takes 3 to 4 hours depending on the traffic and security clearance. Baltal acts as the main staging area for the Airborne Yatra. At Baltal, the devotees board a helicopter that reaches directly to Panchtarni, the main helipad near the Holy cave, in about 15 to 20 minutes of flying. Due to the extremely strict 3 nights schedule, devotees usually fly to Panchtarni and spend the night there to be in the best possible position for the early morning Darshan. The pilgrims are taken as quickly as possible from the valley up to the high-altitude staging area, where the early morning hike up to the cave may begin.
Day 3: Amarnath Yatra and return to Srinagar
The morning yatra is the most sacred and physically demanding part of this tour. The devotees undertake the last 6 km walk to the holy Amarnath Cave. They join the queue to be witness to the natural Ice Lingam of Lord Shiva. Darshan is the trek’s climax – a moment of ultimate spiritual significance. After Darshan, the yatris begin their tour towards the Panchtarni helipad immediately.
From Panchtarni, the group boards a helipad back to Baltal. Upon arrival at Baltal, board the waiting ground transportation for the arduous 5 to 6 hour trek back to Srinagar. The primary religious goal in a single, rigorous day and safely descend from the high altitude to set the devotees up for departure the following morning.
Day 4: Departure
